Event overview

What this event is about

As summer approaches and Austinites start planning their escape from the heat, there’s one summer tradition that’s as essential as a dip in Barton Springs – Paramount Theatre’s annual Summer Classic Film Series . And this year’s series, set to kick off on May 22nd and run through September 7th. Taking place in Austin’s century-old movie palace, the 2026 series invites the public to come enjoy some of the greatest films ever made in their full theatrical glory. These Opening Weekend screenings are also among the final chances to catch films at the Paramount before the theatre closes in mid-June for its first major renovation in over 50 years. The 8-to-9-month full restoration will be a transformational effort to secure the future of both the Paramount and the State Theatre for the next 100 years. But don't worry, this year's Summer Classic Film Series will continue through Labor Day as usual with screenings at the State Theatre and other fun venues around town. Opening weekend will kickoff with screenings of Casablanca, The Maltese Falcon, Rear Window, Mulholland Drive and more. Stay tuned for the full lineup of dates and screenings to be announced in late April. Visit the event website for more information.
